بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The Quran speaks about Tawbah (repentance) throughout different stages of revelation, highlighting Allah’s mercy, the conditions of sincere repentance, and the path back to Him.
This collection brings together every Quranic verse that explicitly mentions Tawbah, repentance, returning to Allah, or Allah’s acceptance of repentance, following the order of the Quran.
Each verse includes its Surah and verse number, with English and Urdu translations, making it easier to study the topic in its original context and find all the relevant verses collected in one place.
1 – Al-Baqarah 2:37
Then Adam was inspired with words ˹of prayer˺ by his Lord, so He accepted his repentance. Surely He is the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.
اس وقت آدم نے اپنے ربّ سے چند کلمات سیکھ کر توبہ کی ،جس کو اس کے ربّ نے قبول کرلیا ،کیونکہ وہ بڑا معاف کرنے والا اور رحم فرمانے والا ہے
2 – Al-Baqarah 2:54
And ˹remember˺ when Moses said to his people, “O my people! Surely you have wronged yourselves by worshipping the calf, so turn in repentance to your Creator and execute ˹the calf-worshippers among˺ yourselves. That is best for you in the sight of your Creator.” Then He accepted your repentance. Surely He is the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.
یاد کرو جب موسیٰ ؑ (یہ نعمت لیے ہوئے پلٹا، تو اُس ) نے اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ ”لوگو، تم نے بچھڑے کو معبُود بناکر اپنے اُوپر سخت ظلم کیا ہے ،لہٰذا تم لوگ اپنے خالق کے حضو ر توبہ کرو اور اپنی جانوں کو ہلاک کرو ، اسی میں تمہارے خالِق کے نزدیک تمہاری بہتری ہے۔“ اُس وقت تمہارے خالِق نے تمہاری توبہ قبول کر لی کہ وہ بڑا معاف کرنے والا ہے اور رحم فرمانے والا ہے
3 – Al-Baqarah 2:128
Our Lord! Make us both ˹fully˺ submit to You and from our descendants a nation that will submit to You. Show us our rituals, and turn to us in grace. You are truly the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.
اور اے ہمارے رب ! ہمیں اپنا مطیع فرمان بنائے رکھ اور ہم دونوں کی نسل سے ایک امت اٹھائیو جو تیری فرماں بردار ہو اور ہمیں حج کرنے کے قاعدے بتلا دے اور ہم پر اپنی توجہ فرما یقیناً تو ہی ہے بہت زیادہ توبہ کا قبول فرمانے والا (اور شفقت کے ساتھ رجوع کرنے والا) اور رحم فرمانے والا
4 – Al-Baqarah 2:160
As for those who repent, mend their ways, and let the truth be known, they are the ones to whom I will turn ˹in forgiveness˺, for I am the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.
سوائے ان کے جو توبہ کریں اور اصلاح کرلیں اور (جو کچھ چھپاتے تھے اسے) واضح طور پر بیان کرنے لگیں تو ان کی توبہ میں قبول کروں گا اور میں تو ہوں ہی توبہ کا قبول کرنے والا رحم فرمانے والا
5 – Al-Baqarah 2:187
It has been made permissible for you to be intimate with your wives during the nights preceding the fast. Your spouses are a garment for you as you are for them. Allah knows that you were deceiving yourselves. So He has accepted your repentance and pardoned you. So now you may be intimate with them and seek what Allah has prescribed for you….
تمہارے لیے روزوں کے زمانے میں راتوں کو اپنی بیویوں کے پاس جانا حلال کردیا گیا ہے۔ وہ تمہارے لیے لباس ہیں اور تم اُن کے لیے۔ اللہ کو معلوم ہوگیا کہ تم لوگ چُپکے چُپکے اپنے آپ سے خیانت کر رہے تھے ، مگر اُس نے تمہارا قصُور معاف کر دیا اور تم سے درگزر فرمایا۔ اب تم اپنی بیویوں کے ساتھ شب باشی کرو اور جو لُطف اللہ نے تمہارے لیے جائز کردیا ہے ، اُسے حاصل کرو۔
6 – Al-Baqarah 2:222
They ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about menstruation. Say, “Beware of its harm! So keep away, and do not have intercourse with your wives during their monthly cycles until they are purified.1 When they purify themselves, then you may approach them in the manner specified by Allah. Surely Allah loves those who always turn to Him in repentance and those who purify themselves.”
پوچھتے ہیں: حیض کا کیا حکم ہے؟ کہو: وہ ایک گندگی کی حالت ہے۔ اس میں عورتوں سے الگ رہو اور ان کے قریب نہ جاؤ، جب تک کہ وہ پاک صاف نہ ہو جائیں۔پھر جب وہ پاک ہو جائیں، تو ان کے پاس جاؤ اس طرح جیسا کہ اللہ نے تم کو حکم دیا ہے۔یقیناً اللہ محبت کرتا ہے بہت توبہ کرنے والوں سے اور محبت کرتا ہے بہت پاکبازی اختیار کرنے والوں سے
7 – Al-Baqarah 2:279
If you do not, then beware of a war with Allah and His Messenger! But if you repent, you may retain your principal—neither inflicting nor suffering harm.
لیکن اگر تم نے ایسا نہ کیا ، تو آگاہ ہو جاوٴ کہ اللہ اور اُس کے رسول ؐ کی طرف سے تمہارے خلاف اعلانِ جنگ ہے۔ اب بھی توبہ کرلو (اور سُود چھوڑ دو)تو اپنا اصل سرمایہ لینے کے تم حق دار ہو۔ نہ تم ظلم کرو ، نہ تم پر ظلم کیا جائے
8 – Ali ‘Imran 3:89
As for those who repent afterwards and mend their ways, then surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
سوائے ان کے جو اس کے بعد توبہ کرلیں اور اصلاح کر لیں تو یقیناً اللہ تعالیٰ بخشنے والا رحم فرمانے والا ہے
9 – Ali ‘Imran 3:90
Indeed, those who disbelieve after having believed then increase in disbelief, their repentance will never be accepted.1 It is they who are astray.
بیشک جن لوگوں نے کفر کیا اپنے ایمان کے بعد پھر وہ اپنے کفر میں بڑھتے چلے گئے ان کی توبہ کبھی قبول نہیں ہوگی اور وہ تو یقیناً گمراہوں میں سے ہیں۔
10 – Ali ‘Imran 3:128
You ˹O Prophet˺ have no say in the matter. It is up to Allah to turn to them in mercy or punish them, for indeed they are wrongdoers.
(اے نبی ﷺ اس معاملے میں آپ کو کوئی اختیار نہیں اللہ ان کی توبہ قبول کرے یا انہیں عذاب دے اس لیے کہ وہ ظالم ہیں
11 – An-Nisa 4:16
And the two among you who commit this sin—discipline them. If they repent and mend their ways, relieve them. Surely Allah is ever Accepting of Repentance, Most Merciful.
اور جو دونوں تم میں سے اس (بدکاری) کا ارتکاب کریں تو ان دونوں کو ایذا پہنچاؤ پھر اگر وہ توبہ کرلیں اور اصلاح کرلیں تو ان کو چھوڑدو یقیناً اللہ تعالیٰ بہت توبہ قبول فرمانے والا اور رحم فرمانے والا ہے
12 – An-Nisa 4:17
Allah only accepts the repentance of those who commit evil ignorantly ˹or recklessly˺ then repent soon after1—Allah will pardon them. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
ہاں یہ جان لو کہ اللہ پر توبہ کی قبولیت کا حق اُنہی لوگوں کے لیے ہے جو نادانی کی وجہ سے کوئی برا فعل کر گزرتے ہیں اور اس کے بعد جلدی ہی توبہ کر لیتے ہیں ایسے لوگوں پر اللہ اپنی نظر عنایت سے پھر متوجہ ہو جاتا ہے اور اللہ ساری باتوں کی خبر رکھنے والا اور حکیم و دانا ہے
13 – An-Nisa 4:18
However, repentance is not accepted from those who knowingly persist in sin until they start dying, and then cry, “Now I repent!” nor those who die as disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment.
مگر توبہ اُن لوگوں کے لیے نہیں ہے جو بُرے کام کیے چلے جاتے ہیں یہاں تک کہ جب ان میں سے کسی کی موت کا وقت آ جاتا ہے اُس وقت وہ کہتا ہے کہ اب میں نے توبہ کی۔ اور اسی طرح توبہ اُن کے لیے بھی نہیں ہے جو مرتے دم تک کافر رہیں۔ ایسے لوگوں کے لیے تو ہم نے درد ناک سزا تیار کر رکھی ہے۔
14 – An-Nisa 4:26
Allāh wants to make clear to you [the lawful from the unlawful] and guide you to the [good] practices of those before you and to accept your repentance. And Allāh is Knowing and Wise.
اللہ چاہتا ہے کہ تم پر اُن طریقوں کو واضح کرے اور اُنہی طریقوں پر تمہیں چلائے جن کی پیروی تم سے پہلے گزرے ہوئے صلحاء کرتے تھے۔ وہ اپنی رحمت کے ساتھ تمہاری طرف متوجّہ ہونے کا ارادہ رکھتا ہے، اور وہ علیم بھی ہے اور دانا بھی۔
15 – An-Nisa 4:27
Allāh wants to accept your repentance, but those who follow [their] passions want you to digress [into] a great deviation.
ہاں، اللہ تو تم پر رحمت کے ساتھ توجّہ کرنا چاہتا ہے مگر جو لوگ خود اپنی خواہشاتِ نفس کی پیروی کررہے ہیں وہ چاہتے ہیں کہ تم راہِ راست سے ہٹ کر دُور نکل جاوٴ۔
16 – An-Nisa 4:64
We only sent messengers to be obeyed by Allah’s Will. If only those ˹hypocrites˺ came to you ˹O Prophet˺—after wronging themselves—seeking Allah’s forgiveness and the Messenger prayed for their forgiveness, they would have certainly found Allah ever Accepting of Repentance, Most Merciful.
ہم نے نہیں بھیجا کسی رسول کو مگر اس لیے کہ اس کی اطاعت کی جائے اللہ کے حکم سے اور اگر وہ جبکہ انہوں نے اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کیا تھا آپ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوجاتے اور اللہ سے استغفار کرتے اور رسول بھی ان کے لیے استغفار کرتے تو وہ یقیناً اللہ کو بڑا توبہ قبول فرمانے والا اور رحم کرنے والا پاتے
17 – An-Nisa 4:92
It is not lawful for a believer to kill another except by mistake. And whoever kills a believer unintentionally must free a believing slave and pay blood-money to the victim’s family—unless they waive it charitably. But if the victim is a believer from a hostile people, then a believing slave must be freed. And if the victim is from a people bound with you in a treaty, then blood-money must be paid to the family along with freeing a believing slave. Those who are unable, let them fast two consecutive months—as a means of repentance to Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
کسی مومن کا یہ کا م نہیں ہے کہ دوسرے مومن کو قتل کرے، اِلّا یہ کہ اس سے چُوک ہو جائے۔ اور جو شخص کسی مومن کو غلطی سے قتل کر دے تو اس کا کفّارہ یہ ہے کہ ایک مومن کو غلامی سے آزاد کرے اور مقتول کے وارثوں کو خون بہا دے، اِلّا یہ کہ وہ خون بہا معاف کردیں۔ لیکن اگر وہ مسلمان مقتول کسی ایسی قوم سے تھا جس سے تمہاری دشمنی ہو تو اس کا کفّارہ ایک مومن غلام آزاد کرنا ہے۔ اور اگر وہ کسی ایسی غیر مسلم قوم کا فرد تھا جس سے تمہارا معاہدہ ہو تو اس کے وارثوں کو خوں بہا دیا جائے گا اور ایک مومن غلام کو آزاد کرنا ہوگا۔ پھر جو غلام نہ پائے وہ پے در پے دو مہینے کے روزے رکھے۔ یہ اس گناہ پر اللہ سے توبہ کرنے کا طریقہ ہے اور اللہ علیم و دانا ہے
18 – An-Nisa 4:146
Except those who repent, mend their ways, hold fast to Allah, and are sincere in their devotion to Allah; they will be with the believers. And Allah will grant the believers a great reward.
سوائے ان لوگوں کے جو توبہ کریں اور اصلاح کرلیں اور اللہ سے چمٹ جائیں اور اپنی اطاعت کو اللہ کے لیے خالص کرلیں تو پھر یہ لوگ اہل ایمان میں شامل ہوجائیں گے اور اللہ اہل ایمان کو عنقریب بہت بڑا اجر عطا فرمائے گا
19 – Al-Ma’idah 5:34
Except for those who return [repenting] before you overcome [i.e., apprehend] them. And know that Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
سوائے ان کے جو توبہ کرلیں اس سے پہلے کہ تم ان پر قابو پاؤ پس جان لو کہ اللہ تعالیٰ مغفرت فرمانے والا مہربان ہے۔
20 – Al-Ma’idah 5:39
But whoever repents after their wrongdoing and mends their ways, Allah will surely turn to them in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
پھر جو ظلم کرنے کے بعد توبہ کرے اور اپنی اصلاح کرلے تو اللہ کی نظرِ عنایت پھر اس پر مائل ہوجائے گی، اللہ بہت درگزر کرنے والا اور رحم فرمانے والا ہے
21 – Al-Ma’idah 5:71
They thought there would be no consequences, so they turned a blind eye and a deaf ear. Yet Allah turned to them in forgiveness ˹after their repentance˺, but again many became blind and deaf. And Allah is All-Seeing of what they do.
اور اپنے نزدیک یہ سمجھے کہ کوئی فتنہ رونما نہ ہوگا، اس لیے اندھے اور بہرے بن گئے پھر اللہ نے اُنہیں معاف کیا تو اُن میں سے اکثر لوگ اور زیادہ اندھے اور بہرے بنتے چلے گئے اللہ اُن کی یہ سب حرکات دیکھتا رہا ہے
22 – Al-Ma’idah 5:74
Will they not turn to Allah in repentance and seek His forgiveness? And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
پھر کیا یہ اللہ سے توبہ نہ کریں گے اور اس سے معافی نہ مانگیں گے؟ اللہ بہت درگزر فرمانے والا اور رحم کرنے والا ہے
23 – Al-An’am 6:54
And when those come to you who believe in Our verses, say, “Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself – indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.”
جب آپ ﷺ کے پاس آئیں وہ لوگ جو ہماری آیات پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں تو آپ ان سے کہیں کہ تم پر سلامتی ہو تمہارے رب نے اپنے اوپر رحمت کو لازم کرلیا ہے (اور تمہارے لیے اللہ کی خاص رحمت کا مظہر یہ ہے) کہ تم میں سے جو کوئی کسی برے کام کا ارتکاب کربیٹھے گا جہالت کی بنا پر پھر وہ اس کے بعد توبہ کرے گا اور اصلاح کرلے گا تو یقیناً اللہ بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے
24 – Al-A’raf 7:143
When Moses came at the appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he asked, “My Lord! Reveal Yourself to me so I may see You.” Allah answered, “You cannot see Me! But look at the mountain. If it remains firm in its place, only then will you see Me.” When his Lord appeared to the mountain, He levelled it to dust and Moses collapsed unconscious. When he recovered, he cried, “Glory be to You! I turn to You in repentance and I am the first of the believers.”
دونوں بول اُٹھے”اے ربّ! ہم نے اپنے اوپر ستم کیا، اب اگر تُو نے ہم سے درگزر نہ فرمایا اور رحم نہ کیا تو یقیناً ہم تباہ ہو جائیں گے۔“
25 – Al-A’raf 7:153
But those who commit evil, then repent and become ˹true˺ believers, your Lord will certainly be All-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
اور جو لوگ برے عمل کریں پھر توبہ کر لیں اور ایمان لے آئیں تو یقیناً اِس توبہ و ایمان کے بعد تیرا رب درگزر اور رحم فرمانے والا ہے”
26 – Al-A’raf 7:156
Ordain for us what is good in this life and the next. Indeed, we have turned to You ˹in repentance˺.” Allah replied, “I will inflict My torment on whoever I will. But My mercy encompasses everything. I will ordain mercy for those who shun evil, pay alms-tax, and believe in Our revelations.
اور ہمارے لیے اس دنیا کی بھلائی بھی لکھ دیجیے اور آخرت کی بھی، ہم نے آپ کی طرف رجوع کر لیا۔“جواب میں ارشاد ہوا”سزا تو میں جسے چاہتا ہوں دیتا ہوں، مگر میری رحمت ہر چیز پر چھائی ہوئی ہے1 ، اور اُسے میں اُن لوگوں کے حق میں لکھوں گا جو نافرمانی سے پرہیز کریں گے، زکوٰة دیں گے اور میری آیات پر ایمان لائیں گے۔“
27 – At-Tawbah 9:3
And [it is] an announcement from Allāh and His Messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage that Allāh is disassociated from the disbelievers, and [so is] His Messenger. So if you repent, that is best for you; but if you turn away – then know that you will not cause failure to Allāh. And give tidings to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment.
اطلاعِ عام ہے اللہ اور کے رسول ؐ کی طرف سے حجِ اکبر کے دن1 تمام لوگوں کے لیے کہ اللہ مشرکین سے بری الذمّہ ہے اور اُس کا رسول ؐ بھی۔ اب اگر تم لوگ توبہ کر لو تو تمہارے ہی لیے بہتر ہے اور جو منہ پھیرتے ہو تو خوب سمجھ لو کہ تم اللہ کو عاجز کرنے والے نہیں ہو۔ اور اے نبی ؐ ، انکار کرنے والوں کو سخت عذاب کی خوشخبری سُنا دو
28 – At-Tawbah 9:5
And when the inviolable months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakāh, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
پھر جب یہ محترم مہینے گزر جائیں تو قتل کرو ان مشرکین کو جہاں پاؤ اور پکڑو ان کو اور گھیراؤ کرو ان کا اور ان کے لیے ہر جگہ گھات لگا کر بیٹھو پھر اگر وہ توبہ کرلیں نماز قائم کریں اور زکوٰۃ ادا کریں تو ان کا راستہ چھوڑ دو۔ یقیناً اللہ بخشنے والا رحم کرنے والا ہے
29 – At-Tawbah 9:11
But if they repent, perform prayer, and pay alms-tax, then they are your brothers in faith. This is how We make the revelations clear for people of knowledge.
پس اگر یہ توبہ کر لیں اور نماز قائم کریں اور زکوٰة دیں تو تمہارے دینی بھائی ہیں اور جاننے والوں کے لیے ہم اپنے احکام واضح کیے دیتے ہیں۔
30 – At-Tawbah 9:15
And remove the anger of their (believers’) hearts. Allâh accepts the repentance of whom He wills. Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
اور ان کے قلوب کی جلن مٹا دے گا، اور جسے چاہے گا توبہ کی توفیق بھی دے گا۔ اللہ سب کچھ جاننے والا اور دانا ہے
31 – At-Tawbah 9:27
Then Allāh will accept repentance after that for whom He wills; and Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
(تم یہ بھی دیکھ چُکے ہو کہ) اس طرح سزا دینے کے بعد اللہ جس کو چاہتا ہے توبہ کی توفیق بھی بخش دیتا ہے، اللہ درگزر کرنے والا اور رحم فرمانے والا ہے
32 – At-Tawbah 9:74
They swear by Allāh that they did not say [anything against the Prophet (ﷺ)] while they had said the word of disbelief and disbelieved after their [pretense of] Islām and planned that which they were not to attain. And they were not resentful except [for the fact] that Allāh and His Messenger had enriched them of His bounty. So if they repent, it is better for them; but if they turn away, Allāh will punish them with a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And there will not be for them on earth any protector or helper.
وہ اللہ کی قسم کھا کر کہتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے یہ بات نہیں کی حالانکہ انہوں نے کہا ہے کفر کا کلمہ اور وہ کفر کرچکے اپنے اسلام کے بعد اور انہوں نے ارادہ کیا تھا اس شے کا جو وہ حاصل نہ کرسکے اور یہ لوگ اپنے عناد کا مظاہرہ نہیں کر رہے مگر اسی لیے کہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول نے انہیں غنی کردیا ہے اپنے فضل سے اب بھی اگر یہ توبہ کرلیں تو ان کے لیے بہتر ہے اور اگر وہ پیٹھ موڑیں گے تو اللہ انہیں بہت درد ناک عذاب دے گا دنیا میں بھی اور آخرت میں بھی اور پوری زمین میں ان کا نہ کوئی دوست ہوگا اور نہ کوئی مددگار
33 – At-Tawbah 9:102
Some others have confessed their wrongdoing: they have mixed goodness with evil.1 It is right to hope that Allah will turn to them in mercy. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
اور کچھ دوسرے لوگ ہیں جو اپنے گناہوں کا اعتراف کرتے ہیں انہوں نے اچھے اور برے اعمال کو گڈ مڈ کردیا ہے امید ہے کہ اللہ ان کی توبہ کو قبول فرمائے گا۔ یقیناً اللہ بخشنے والا نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے
34 – At-Tawbah 9:104
Do they not know that Allah alone accepts the repentance of His servants and receives ˹their˺ charity, and that Allah alone is the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful?
کیا اِن لوگوں کو معلوم نہیں ہے کہ وہ اللہ ہی ہے جو اپنے بندوں کی توبہ قبول کرتا ہے اور ان کی خیرات کو قبولیت عطا فرماتا ہے، اور یہ کہ اللہ بہت معاف کرنے والا اور رحیم ہے؟
35 – At-Tawbah 9:106
And [there are] others deferred until the command of Allāh – whether He will punish them or whether He will forgive them. And Allāh is Knowing and Wise.
اور کچھ دوسرے لوگ ہیں جن کے معاملے کو اللہ کے فیصلے تک مؤخر کردیا گیا ہے چاہے انہیں عذاب دے اور چاہے تو ان کی توبہ قبول فرما لے۔ اور اللہ سب کچھ جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے
36 – At-Tawbah 9:112
˹It is the believers˺ who repent, who are devoted to worship, who praise ˹their Lord˺, who fast, who bow down and prostrate themselves, who encourage good and forbid evil, and who observe the limits set by Allah. And give good news to the believers.
توبہ کرنے والے (اللہ کی) بندگی کرنے والے (اللہ کی) حمد کرنے والے دُنیوی آسائشوں سے لاتعلق رہنے والے رکوع کرنے والے سجدہ کرنے والے نیکی کا حکم دینے والے بدی سے روکنے والے اللہ کی حدود کی حفاظت کرنے والے۔ اور (اے نبی ﷺ آپ ان اہل ایمان کو بشارت دے دیجیے
37 – At-Tawbah 9:117
Allah has certainly turned in mercy to the Prophet as well as the Emigrants and the Helpers who stood by him in the time of hardship, after the hearts of a group of them had almost faltered. He then accepted their repentance. Surely He is Ever Gracious and Most Merciful to them.
اللہ مہربان ہوا نبی ﷺ پر اور مہاجرین و انصار پر بھی جنہوں نے آپ کا اتباع کیا (ساتھ دیا) مشکل وقت میں اس کے بعد کہ ان میں سے ایک گروہ کے دل میں کچھ کجی آنے لگی تھی پھرا للہ نے ان پر نظر رحمت فرمائی۔ یقیناً وہ ان کے حق میں بہت مہربان رحم فرمانے والا ہے
38 – At-Tawbah 9:118
And [He also forgave] the three who were left alone [i.e., boycotted, regretting their error] to the point that the earth closed in on them in spite of its vastness and their souls confined [i.e., anguished] them and they were certain that there is no refuge from Allāh except in Him. Then He turned to them so they could repent. Indeed, Allāh is the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful.
اور ان تین پر بھی (اللہ نے رحمت کی نگاہ کی) جن کا معاملہ مؤخر کردیا گیا تھا یہاں تک کہ زمین اپنی تمام تر کشادگی کے باوجود ان پر تنگ پڑگئی اور ان پر اپنی جانیں بھی بوجھ بن گئیں اور انہیں یقین ہوگیا کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی اور جائے پناہ ہے ہی نہیں تو اس نے ان کی توبہ قبول فرمائی تاکہ وہ بھی پھر متوجہ ہوجائیں۔ یقیناً اللہ بہت توبہ قبول کرنے والا بہت زیادہ رحم کرنے والا ہے
39 – At-Tawbah 9:126
Do they not see that they are tried once or twice every year? Yet they neither repent nor do they learn a lesson.
کیا یہ لوگ دیکھتے نہیں کہ ہر سال ایک دو مرتبہ یہ آزمائش میں ڈالے جاتے ہیں ؟1 مگر اِس پر بھی نہ توبہ کرتے ہیں نہ کوئی سبق لیتے ہیں
40 – Hud 11:3
And seek your Lord’s forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance. He will grant you a good provision for an appointed term and graciously reward the doers of good. But if you turn away, then I truly fear for you the torment of a formidable Day.
اور یہ کہ اپنے رب سے استغفار کرو پھر اس کی جناب میں توبہ کرو وہ تمہیں (دُنیوی زندگی میں) مال و متاع دے گا بہت اچھا ایک وقت معین تک اور ہر صاحب فضل کو اس کے حصے کا فضل عطا کرے گا اور اگر تم پھر جاؤ گے تو مجھے اندیشہ ہے تم پر ایک بڑے ہولناک دن کے عذاب کا
41 – Hud 11:52
And O my people! Seek your Lord’s forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance. He will shower you with rain in abundance, and add strength to your strength. So do not turn away, persisting in wickedness.”
اور اے میری قوم کے لوگو ! اپنے پروردگار سے استغفار کرو پھر اسی کی طرف رجوع کرو وہ آسمان سے تم پر خوب پانی برسائے گا اور تمہاری موجودہ قوت میں مزید قوت کا اضافہ فرمائے گا اور تم روگردانی نہ کرو مجرم بن کر
42 – Hud 11:61
And to Thamūd [We sent] their brother Ṣāliḥ. He said, “O my people, worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him. He has produced you from the earth and settled you in it, so ask forgiveness of Him and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive.”
اور ثمود کی طرف (ہم نے بھیجا) ان کے بھائی صالح کو آپ نے فرمایا : اے میری قوم کے لوگو ! اللہ کی بندگی کرو تمہارا کوئی معبود اس کے سوا نہیں ہے اس نے تمہیں زمین سے پیدا کیا اور اس میں تم کو آباد کیا تو اس سے اپنے گناہ بخشواؤ پھر اسی کی جناب میں رجوع کرو یقیناً میرا رب قریب ہے اور دعا کا قبول کرنے والا ہے
43 – Hud 11:90
And ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is Merciful and Affectionate.
اور استغفار کرو اپنے رب سے پھر اس کی طرف رجوع کرو۔ یقیناً میرا رب رحیم بھی ہے محبت فرمانے والا بھی
44 – Hud 11:112
So remain on a right course as you have been commanded, [you] and those who have turned back with you [to Allāh], and do not transgress. Indeed, He is Seeing of what you do.
تو (اے نبی !) آپ ڈٹے رہیں جیسا کہ آپ کو حکم ہوا ہے اور وہ بھی جنہوں نے توبہ کی ہے آپ کے ساتھ اور تم لوگ حد سے تجاوز نہ کرو یقیناً وہ تم لوگوں کے سب اعمال دیکھ رہا ہے
45 – Ar-Ra’d 13:30
And so We have sent you ˹O Prophet˺ to a community, like ˹We did with˺ earlier communities, so that you may recite to them what We have revealed to you. Yet they deny the Most Compassionate. Say, “He is my Lord! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. In Him I put my trust, and to Him I turn ˹in repentance˺.”
اسی طرح ہم نے آپ کو اس امت میں بھیجا ہے جس سے پہلے بہت سی امتیں گزر چکی ہیں کہ آپ انہیں ہماری طرف سے جو وحی آپ پر اتری ہے پڑھ کر سنایئے یہ اللہ رحمٰن کے منکر ہیں، آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ میرا پالنے واﻻ تو وہی ہے اس کے سوا درحقیقت کوئی بھی ﻻئق عبادت نہیں، اسی کے اوپر میرا بھروسہ ہے اور اسی کی جانب میرا رجوع ہے.
46 – An-Nahl 16:119
As for those who commit evil ignorantly ˹or recklessly˺, then repent afterwards and mend their ways, then your Lord is surely All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
البتہ جن لوگوں نے جہالت کی بنا پر برا عمل کیا اور پھر توبہ کر کے اپنے عمل کی اصلاح کر لی تو یقیناً توبہ و اصلاح کے بعد تیرا رب اُن کے لیے غفور اور رحیم ہے
47 – Maryam 19:60
As for those who repent, believe, and do good, it is they who will be admitted into Paradise, never being denied any reward.
البتہ جو توبہ کر لیں اور ایمان لے آئیں اور نیک عملی اختیار کر لیں وہ جنّت میں داخل ہوں گے اور ان کی ذرّہ برابر حق تلفی نہ ہو گی
48 – Ta-Ha 20:82
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.
البتہ جو توبہ کر لےاور ایمان لائے اور نیک عمل کرے، پھر سیدھا چلتا رہے، اُس کے لیے میں بہت درگزر کرنے والا ہوں
49 – Ta-Ha 20:122
Then his Lord chose him ˹for His grace˺, accepted his repentance, and guided him ˹rightly˺.
پھر اس کے رب نے اسے پسند کرلیا اس کی توبہ قبول فرمائی اور اسے ہدایت بخشی
50 – An-Nur 24:5
Except for those who repent thereafter and reform, for indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
سوائے ان لوگوں کے جو تو بہ کرلیں اس کے بعد اور اپنی اصلاح کرلیں تو یقیناً اللہ غفور ہے رحیم ہے
51 – An-Nur 24:10
˹You would have suffered,˺ had it not been for Allah’s grace and mercy upon you, and had Allah not been Accepting of Repentance, All-Wise.
اور اگر تم لوگوں پر اللہ کا فضل اور اس کی رحمت نہ ہوتی اور یہ کہ اللہ بہت توبہ قبول کرنے والا بہت حکمت والا ہے
52 – An-Nur 24:31
And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment [i.e., beauty] except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers, their brothers’ sons, their sisters’ sons, their women, that which their right hands possess [i.e., slaves], or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allāh in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
اور اے نبیؐ ، مومن عورتوں سے کہہ دو کہ اپنی نظریں بچا کر رکھیں، اور اپنی شرمگاہوں کی حفاظت کریں، اور اپنا بناوٴ سنگھار نہ دکھائیں بجز اُس کے جو خود ظاہر ہو جائے، اور اپنے سینوں پر اپنی اوڑھنیوں کے آنچل ڈالے رہیں۔ وہ اپنا بناوٴ سنگھار نہ ظاہر کریں مگر اِن لوگوں کے سامنے : شوہر، باپ، شوہروں کے باپ ، اپنے بیٹے، شوہروں کے بیٹے ، بھائی ، بھائیوں کے بیٹے ، بہنوں کے بیٹے ، اپنے میل جول کی عورتیں ، اپنے مملوک ، وہ زیرِ دست مرد جو کسی اور قسم کی غرض نہ رکھتے ہوں ، اور وہ بچے جو عورتوں کی پوشیدہ باتوں سے ابھی واقف نہ ہوئے ہوں۔ وہ اپنے پاوٴں زمین پر مارتی ہوئی نہ چلا کریں کہ اپنی جو زینت انہوں نے چھپا رکھی ہو اس کا لوگوں کو علم ہو جائے۔ اے مومنو، تم سب مِل کر اللہ سے توبہ کرو ، توقع ہے کہ فلاح پاوٴ گے۔
53 – Al-Furqan 25:70
As for those who repent, believe, and do good deeds, they are the ones whose evil deeds Allah will change into good deeds. For Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
سوائے اس کے جس نے توبہ کی اور ایمان لایا اور اس نے نیک عمل کیے تو ایسے لوگوں کی برائیوں کو اللہ تعالیٰ نیکیوں سے بدل دیتا ہے اور اللہ غفور ہے رحیم ہے
54 – Al-Furqan 25:71
And whoever repents and does good has truly turned to Allah properly.
جو شخص توبہ کر کے نیک عملی اختیار کرتا ہے وہ تو اللہ کی طرف پلٹ آتا ہے جیسا کہ پلٹنے کا حق ہے
55 – Al-Qasas 28:67
As for those who repent, believe, and do good ˹in this world˺, it is right to hope that they will be among the successful.
تو جس نے توبہ کی اور ایمان لایا اور نیک اعمال کیے تو امید ہے کہ وہ فلاح پانے والے والوں میں سے ہوگا
56 – Luqman 31:15
But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness and follow the way of those who turn back to Me [in repentance]. Then to Me will be your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do.
لیکن اگر وہ تجھ پر دباوٴ ڈالیں کہ میرے ساتھ تو کسی ایسے کو شریک کرے جسے تو نہیں جانتا تو ان کی بات ہر گز نہ مان۔ دُنیا میں ان کے ساتھ نیک برتاوٴ کر تا رہ مگرپیروی اُس شخص کے راستے کی کر جس نے میری طرف رجوع کیا ہے۔ پھر تم سب کو پلٹنا میری ہی طرف ہے ، اُس وقت میں تمہیں بتادوں گا کہ تم کیسے عمل کرتے رہے ہو۔
57 – Al-Ahzab 33:24
That Allāh may reward the truthful for their truth and punish the hypocrites if He wills or accept their repentance. Indeed, Allāh is ever Forgiving and Merciful.
(یہ سب کچھ اس لیے ہوا) تاکہ اللہ سچوں کو اُن کی سچائی کی جزا دے اور منافقوں کو چاہے تو سزا دے اور چاہے تو ان کی توبہ قبول کر لے، بے شک اللہ غفور و رحیم ہے
58 – Al-Ahzab 33:73
So that Allah will punish hypocrite men and women and polytheistic men and women, and Allah will turn in mercy to believing men and women. For Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
اِس بار امانت کو اٹھانے کا لازمی نتیجہ یہ ہے کہ اللہ منافق مردوں اور عورتوں، اور مشرک مردوں اور عورتوں کو سزا دے اور مومن مَردوں اور عورتوں کی توبہ قبول کرے، اللہ درگزر فرمانے والا اور رحیم ہے
59 – Saba 34:9
Have they not then seen all that surrounds them of the heavens and the earth? If We willed, We could cause the earth to swallow them up, or cause ˹deadly˺ pieces of the sky to fall upon them. Surely in this is a sign for every servant who turns ˹to Allah˺.
کیا اِنہوں نے کبھی اُس آسمان و زمین کو نہیں دیکھا جو اِنہیں آگے اور پیچھے سے گھیرے ہوئے ہے؟ ہم چاہیں تو اِنہیں زمین میں دَھسا دیں، یا آسمان کے کچھ ٹکڑے اِن پر گِرا دیں۔ در حقیقت اس میں ایک نشانی ہے ہر اُس بندے کے لیے جو خدا کی طرف رجوع کرنے والا ہو۔
60 – Sad 38:24
[David] said, “He has certainly wronged you in demanding your ewe [in addition] to his ewes. And indeed, many associates oppress one another, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds – and few are they.” And David became certain that We had tried him, and he asked forgiveness of his Lord1 and fell down bowing [in prostration] and turned in repentance [to Allāh].
داوٴدؑ نے جواب دیا”اِس شخص نے اپنی دُنبیوں کے ساتھ تیری دُنبی ملا لینے کا مطالبہ کر کے یقیناً تجھ پر ظلم کیا ، 1 اور واقعہ یہ ہے کہ مِل جُل کر ساتھ رہنے والے لوگ اکثر ایک دُوسرے پر زیادتیاں کرتے رہتے ہیں ، بس وہی لوگ اس سے بچے ہوئے ہیں جو ایمان رکھتے اور عملِ صالح کرتے ہیں، اور ایسے لوگ کم ہی ہیں۔“ (یہ بات کہتے کہتے)داوٴدؑ سمجھ گیا کہ یہ تو ہم نے دراصل اُس کی آزمائش کی ہے ، چنانچہ اس نے اپنے ربّ سے معافی مانگی اور سجدے میں گِر گیا اور رُجوع کر لیا
61 – Sad 38:34
And indeed, We tested Solomon, placing a ˹deformed˺ body on his throne, then he turned ˹to Allah in repentance˺.
اور (اسی طرح) ہم نے آزمائش میں ڈالا سلیمان ؑ کو اور اس کے تخت پر ہم نے ایک جسد ڈال دیا پھر اس نے رجوع کیا
62 – Az-Zumar 39:8
When one is touched with hardship, they cry out to their Lord, turning to Him ˹alone˺. But as soon as He showers them with blessings from Him, they ˹totally˺ forget the One they had cried to earlier, and set up equals to Allah to mislead ˹others˺ from His Way. Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Enjoy your disbelief for a little while! You will certainly be one of the inmates of the Fire.”
انسان پر جب کوئی آفت آتی ہے تو وہ اپنے ربّ کی طرف رُجوع کر کے اُسے پکارتا ہے ۔ پھر جب اس کا ربّ اسے اپنی نعمت سے نواز دیتا ہے تو وہ اُس مصیبت کو بھُول جاتا ہے جس پر وہ پہلے پکار رہا تھا اور دُوسروں کو اللہ کا ہمسر ٹھہراتا ہے تاکہ اُس کی راہ سے گمراہ کرے۔ (اے نبیؐ)اُس سے کہو کہ تھوڑے دن اپنے کُفر سے لُطف اُٹھا لے، یقیناً تُو دوزخ میں جانے والا ہے
63 – Az-Zumar 39:54
And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.
اور اپنے رب کی طرف رجوع کرو اور اس کے فرمانبردار بن جائو اس سے پہلے کہ تم پر عذاب ّمسلط ہوجائے پھر تمہاری کہیں سے مدد نہیں کی جائے گی
64 – Ghafir 40:3
The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination.
گناہ معاف کرنے والا اور توبہ قبول کرنے والا ہے، سخت سزا دینے والا اور بڑا صاحبِ فضل ہے۔ کوئی معبُود اس کے سوا نہیں، اُسی کی طرف سب کو پلٹنا ہے۔
65 – Ghafir 40:7
Those ˹angels˺ who carry the Throne and those around it glorify the praises of their Lord, have faith in Him, and seek forgiveness for the believers, ˹praying:˺ “Our Lord! You encompass everything in ˹Your˺ mercy and knowledge. So forgive those who repent and follow Your Way, and protect them from the torment of the Hellfire.
عرشِ الہٰی کے حامل فرشتے ، اور وہ جو عرش کے گردو پیش حاضر رہتے ہیں، سب اپنے ربّ کی حمد کے ساتھ اس کی تسبیح کر رہے ہیں۔ وہ اس پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور ایمان لانے والوں کے حق میں دُعائے مغفرت کرتے ہیں۔ وہ کہتے ہیں”اے ہمارے ربّ ، تُو اپنی رحمت اور اپنے علم کے ساتھ ہر چیز پر چھایا ہوا ہے، پس معاف کردے اور عذابِ دوزخ سے بچالے اُن لوگوں کو جنہوں نے توبہ کی ہے اور تیرا راستہ اختیار کر لیا ہے۔
66 – Ash-Shura 42:10
˹Say to the believers, O Prophet,˺ “Whatever you may differ about, its judgment rests with Allah. That is Allah—my Lord. In Him I put my trust, and to Him I ˹always˺ turn.”
تمہارے درمیان جس معاملہ میں بھی اختلاف ہو ، اُس کا فیصلہ کرنا اللہ کا کام ہے۔ وہی اللہ میرا ربّ ہے ، اُسی پر میں نے بھروسہ کیا ، اور اُسی کی طرف میں رجوع کرتا ہوں۔
67 – Ash-Shura 42:13
He has ordained for you ˹believers˺ the Way which He decreed for Noah, and what We have revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ and what We decreed for Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, ˹commanding:˺ “Uphold the faith, and make no divisions in it.” What you call the polytheists to is unbearable for them. Allah chooses for Himself whoever He wills, and guides to Himself whoever turns ˹to Him˺.
اُس نےتمہارے لیے دین کا وہی طریقہ مقرر کیا ہے جس کا حکم اُس نے نُوحؑ کو دیا تھا، اور جسے (اے محمدؐ)اب تمہاری طرف ہم نے وحی کے ذریعہ سے بھیجا ہے، اور جس کی ہدایت ہم ابراہیمؑ اور موسیٰؑ اور عیسیٰؑ کو دے چکے ہیں، اِس تاکید کے ساتھ کہ قائم کرو اِس دین کو اور اُس میں متفرق نہ ہوجاوٴ۔ یہی بات اِن مشرکین کو سخت ناگوار ہوئی ہے جس کی طرف (اے محمدؐ)تم انہیں دعوت دے رہے ہو۔ اللہ جسے چاہتا ہے اپنا کر لیتا ہے، اور وہ اپنی طرف آنے کا راستہ اُسی کو دکھاتا ہے جو اُس کی طرف رجوع کرے۔
68 – Ash-Shura 42:25
And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do.
اور وہی ہے کہ جو اپنے بندوں کی توبہ قبول فرماتا ہے اور ان کی بہت سی برائیوں سے درگزر کرتا ہے اور وہ جانتا ہے جو کچھ تم کرتے ہو۔
69 – Al-Ahqaf 46:15
And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until, when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, “My Lord, enable me1 to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims.”
ہم نے انسان کو ہدایت کی کہ وہ اپنے والدین کے ساتھ نیک برتاوٴ کرے۔ اُس کی ماں نے مشقّت اُٹھا کر اسے پیٹ میں رکھا اور مشقُت اُٹھا کر ہی اس کو جنا، اور اس کے حمل اور دُودھ چھڑانے میں تیس مہینے لگ گئے۔ یہاں تک کہ جب وہ اپنی پُوری طاقت کو پہنچا اور چالیس سال کا ہوگیا تو اُس نے کہا”اے میرے ربّ ، مجھے توفیق دے کہ میں تیری اُن نعمتوں کا شکر ادا کروں جو تُو نے مجھے اور میرے والدین کو عطا فرمائیں، اور ایسا نیک عمل کروں جس سے تُو راضی ہو، اور میری اولاد کو بھی نیک بناکر مجھے سُکھ دے، میں تیرے حضور توبہ کرتا ہوں اور تابع فرمان (مسلم)بندوں میں سے ہوں۔“
70 – Al-Hujurat 49:11
O believers! Do not let some ˹men˺ ridicule others, they may be better than them, nor let ˹some˺ women ridicule other women, they may be better than them. Do not defame one another, nor call each other by offensive nicknames. How evil it is to act rebelliously after having faith! And whoever does not repent, it is they who are the ˹true˺ wrongdoers.
اے لوگو جو ایمان لائے ہو ، نہ مرد دوسرے مردوں کا مذاق اڑائیں، ہوسکتا ہے کہ وہ ان سے بہتر ہوں، اور نہ عورتیں دوسری عورتوں کا مذاق اڑائیں ، ہوسکتا ہے کہ وہ ان سے بہتر ہوں۔ آپس میں ایک دوسرے پر طعن نہ کرو اور نہ ایک دوسرے کو بُرے القاب سے یاد کرو۔ ایمان لانے کے بعد فسق میں نام پیدا کرنا بہت بری بات ہے۔5 جو لوگ اس روش سے باز نہ آئیں وہی ظالم ہیں
71 – Al-Hujurat 49:12
O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allāh; indeed, Allāh is Accepting of Repentance and Merciful.
اے لوگوں جو ایمان لائے ہو ، بہت گمان کرنے سے پرہیز کرو کہ بعض گمان گناہ ہوتے ہیں۔1 تجسُّس نہ کرو۔ اور تم میں سے کوئی کسی کی غیبت نہ کرے۔ کیا تمہارے اندر کوئی ایسا ہے جو اپنے مرے ہوئے بھائی کا گوشت کھانا پسند کرے گا؟ دیکھو، تم خود اس سے گِھن کھاتے ہو۔ اللہ سے ڈرو ، اللہ بڑا توبہ قبول کرنے والا اور رحیم ہے
72 – Qaf 50:8
Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allāh].
یہ ساری چیزیں آنکھیں کھولنے والی اور سبق دینے والی ہیں ہر اُس بندے کے لیے جو (حق کی طرف) رجوع کرنے والا ہو
73 – Qaf 50:33
Who feared the Most Merciful in the unseen and came with a heart returning [in repentance].
جو ڈرتا رہا رحمن سے غیب میں ہونے کے باوجود۔ اور لے کر آیا رجوع کرنے والا دل۔
74 – Al-Mujadilah 58:13
Are you afraid of spending in charity before your private consultations ˹with him˺? Since you are unable to do so, and Allah has turned to you in mercy, then ˹continue to˺ establish prayer, pay alms-tax, and obey Allah and His Messenger. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.
کیا تم ڈر گئے اس سے کہ (رسول ﷺ کے ساتھ) اپنی تنہائی کی باتوں سے پہلے صدقات پیش کرو ؟ پھر جب تم نے یہ نہیں کیا اور اللہ نے بھی تم پر نظر ِ عنایت فرما دی تو بس نماز قائم رکھو زکوٰۃ ادا کرتے رہو اور اللہ اور اس کے رسول ﷺ کی اطاعت کرتے رہو۔ اور اللہ باخبر ہے اس سے جو تم کر رہے ہو۔
75 – Al-Mumtahanah 60:4
You already have an excellent example in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, “We totally dissociate ourselves from you and ˹shun˺ whatever ˹idols˺ you worship besides Allah. We reject you. The enmity and hatred that has arisen between us and you will last until you believe in Allah alone.” The only exception is when Abraham said to his father, “I will seek forgiveness for you,˹” adding, “but˺ I cannot protect you from Allah at all.” ˹The believers prayed,˺ “Our Lord! In You we trust. And to You we ˹always˺ turn. And to You is the final return.
تم لوگوں کے لیے ابراہیمؑ اور اُس کے ساتھیوں میں ایک اچھا نمونہ ہے کہ انہوں نے اپنی قوم سے صاف کہہ دیا”ہم تم سے اور تمہارے اِن معبودوں سے جن کو تم خدا کو چھوڑ کر پُوجتے ہو قطعی بیزار ہیں، ہم نے تم سے کفر کیا اور ہمارے اور تمہارے درمیان ہمیشہ کے لیے عداوت ہوگئی اور بیر پڑگیا جب تک تم اللہ واحد پر ایمان نہ لاؤ۔“مگر ابراہیمؑ کا اپنے باپ سے یہ کہنا (اِس سے مستثنٰی ہے) کہ ”میں آپ کے لیے مغفرت کی درخواست ضرور کروں گا، اور اللہ سے آپ کے لیے کچھ حاصل کر لینا میرے بس میں نہیں ہے“ (اور ابراہیمؑ واصحابِ ابراہیمؑ کی دعا یہ تھی کہ)”اے ہمارے رب، تیرے ہی اوپر ہم نے بھروسہ کیا اور تیری ہی طرف ہم نے رجوع کر لیا اور تیرے ہی حضور ہمیں پلٹنا ہے
76 – At-Tahrim 66:4
˹It will be better˺ if you ˹wives˺ both turn to Allah in repentance, for your hearts have certainly faltered. But if you ˹continue to˺ collaborate against him, then ˹know that˺ Allah Himself is his Guardian. And Gabriel, the righteous believers, and the angels are ˹all˺ his supporters as well.
اگر تم دونوں اللہ سے توبہ کرتی ہو (تو یہ تمہارے لیے بہتر ہے) کیونکہ تمہارے دل سیدھی راہ سے ہٹ گئے ہیں، 1 اور اگر نبی کے مقابلہ میں تم نے باہم جتھہ بندی کی 2 تو جان رکھو کہ اللہ اُس کا مولیٰ ہے اور اُس کے بعد جبریل اور تمام صالح اہلِ ایمان اور سب ملائکہ اس کے ساتھی اورمدد گار ہیں۔
77 – At-Tahrim 66:5
Perhaps, if he were to divorce you ˹all˺, his Lord would replace you with better wives who are submissive ˹to Allah˺, faithful ˹to Him˺, devout, repentant, dedicated to worship and fasting—previously married or virgins.
بعید نہیں کہ اگر نبی تم سب بیویوں کو طلاق دے دے تو اللہ اسے ایسی بیویاں تمہارے بدلے میں عطا فرما دے جو تم سے بہتر ہوں، سچی مسلمان، باایمان، اطاعت گزار، توبہ گزار، عبادت گزار، اور روزہ دار، خواہ شوہر دیدہ ہوں یا باکرہ۔
78 – At-Tahrim 66:8
O believers! Turn to Allah in sincere repentance, so your Lord may absolve you of your sins and admit you into Gardens, under which rivers flow, on the Day Allah will not disgrace the Prophet or the believers with him. Their light will shine ahead of them and on their right. They will say, “Our Lord! Perfect our light for us, and forgive us. ˹For˺ You are truly Most Capable of everything.”
اے لوگو جو ایمان لائے ہو ، اللہ سے توبہ کرو، خالص توبہ ، بعید نہیں کہ اللہ تمہاری برائیاں تم سے دُور کر دے اور تمہیں ایسی جنّتوں میں داخل فرما دے جن کے نیچے نہریں بہ رہی ہوں گی۔ یہ وہ دن ہوگا جب اللہ اپنے نبی کو اور اُن لوگوں کو جو اس کے ساتھ ایمان لائے ہیں رُسوا نہ کرے گا۔ اُن کا نُور اُن کے آگے آگے اور ان کے دائیں جانب دوڑ رہا ہوگا اور وہ کہہ رہے ہوں گے کہ اے ہمارے ربّ، ہمارا نُور ہمارے لیے مکمل کر دے اور ہم سے درگزر فرما، تُو ہر چیز پر قدرت رکھتا ہے۔
79 – Al-Muzzammil 73:20
Indeed, your Lord knows, [O Muḥammad], that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half of it or a third of it, and [so do] a group of those with you. And Allāh determines [the extent of] the night and the day. He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to do it and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur’ān. He has known that there will be among you those who are ill and others traveling throughout the land seeking [something] of the bounty of Allāh and others fighting for the cause of Allāh. So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakāh and loan Allāh a goodly loan. And whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allāh. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
اے نبیؐ ، تمہارا ربّ جانتا ہے کہ تم کبھی دو تہائی رات کے قریب اور کبھی آدھی رات اور کبھی ایک تہائی رات عبادت میں کھڑے رہتے ہو، اور تمہارے ساتھیوں میں سے بھی ایک گروہ یہ عمل کرتا ہے۔ اللہ ہی رات اور دن کے اوقات کا حساب رکھتا ہے ، اُسے معلوم ہے کہ تم لوگ اوقات کا ٹھیک شمار نہیں کر سکتے، لہٰذا اس نے تم پر مہربانی فرمائی، اب جتنا قرآن آسانی سے پڑھ سکتے ہو پڑھ لیا کرو۔ اُسے معلوم ہے کہ تم میں کچھ مریض ہوں گے، کچھ دُوسرے لوگ اللہ کے فضل کی تلاش میں سفر کرتے ہیں، اور کچھ اور لوگ اللہ کی راہ میں جنگ کرتے ہیں۔ پس جتنا قرآن بآسانی پڑھا جاسکے پڑھ لیا کرو، نماز قائم کرو، زکوٰة دو اور اللہ کو اچھا قرض دیتے رہو۔ 8 جو کچھ بھلائی تم اپنے لیے آگے بھیجو گے اسے اللہ کے ہاں موجود پاوٴ گے، وہی زیادہ بہتر ہے اور اس کا اجر بہت بڑا ہے۔ 9 اللہ سے مغفرت مانگتے رہو، بے شک اللہ بڑا غفور و رحیم ہے
80 – Al-Buruj 85:10
Those who persecute the believing men and women and then do not repent will certainly suffer the punishment of Hell and the torment of burning.
جن لوگوں نے مومن مردوں اور مومن عورتوں کو تکلیفیں دیں اور توبہ نہ کی ان کو دوزخ کا (اور) عذاب بھی ہوگا اور جلنے کا عذاب بھی ہوگا
81 – An-Nasr 110:3
Then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of Repentance.
تو پھر آپ ﷺ اپنے رب کی حمد کے ساتھ اس کی تسبیح کیجیے اور اس سے مغفرت طلب کیجیے۔ یقیناوہ بہت توبہ قبول فرمانے والا ہے۔
Conclusion
The Quran reminds us that no sin is too great for Allah’s mercy when a person sincerely turns back to Him. Throughout these verses, Allah invites His servants to repent, promises forgiveness to those who return with sincere hearts, and encourages believers not to lose hope in His mercy. At the same time, the Quran warns against delaying repentance, reminding us that life is limited and every opportunity to return to Allah is a blessing.
Studying these verses shows that Tawbah is far more than asking for forgiveness. It is a lifelong journey of returning to Allah, correcting our mistakes, and striving to live according to His guidance. May Allah accept our repentance, forgive our sins, and keep our hearts firm upon His path. Ameen.
