Assalamualaikum!
In a previous article, We studied the Ancient arabia challenges and Islamic Solutions. Today is I will extract 3 LESSONS from early days of islam.
Source Book – The Sealed Nectar
When Allah (SWT) sent verses to Arise and warn, Purify himself and avoid idols. He (PBUH) started his mission from closed ones and invited trusted people towards islam.
He (PBUH) had two main tasks:
- Conveying and Warning
- Adhering to the Commands of Allah Himself
Muhammad (PBUH) used to meet and teach the religion in privacy. They would go into a mountain valley to pray secretly.
After three years, a group of believers with brotherhood and cooperation emerged. Then Allah’s Messenger was give duty of preaching faith openly.
“And warn your tribe of near kindred.” [26:214]
Muhammad began telling people about Islam at meetings where idol worshippers gathered. He prayed to Allah in front of them and explained why idol worship was wrong.
Quraish represented Muhammad (PBUH) as a magician to distract pilgrims from Islam.
Efforts to Stop the Spread of Islam
The people of Quraish mocked and insulted Prophet Muhammad, calling him crazy and saying that he was possessed. They tried to make his teachings doubtful by saying the Quran was just old stories and not a true message from God.
An-Nadr bin Harith distracted people by using singers to keep them from listening to the Prophet. However, the Quran said that these claims were false and Muhammad’s words were from God.
Lesson 1: Standing Strong in Belief
Even with all this, the early Muslims stayed strong. They didn’t let the mean words bother them. They focused on what really mattered. And that’s our first lesson: Stand strong in your beliefs, even when others make fun of you. Don’t let lies or distractions change what you believe in.
The Early Trials of Believers in Islam
The life of early muslims was tough. They were insulted, tortured, threatened and beaten badly to make them stop following islam.
Umm Mus’ab bin Umair starved her son and kicked him out for being Muslim. Bilal, a slave, was beaten and dragged through the streets but never gave up his faith. Abu Bakr bought and freed Bilal.
Ammar bin Yasir and his family suffered alot; his mother was the first woman killed for Islam. Prophet Muhammad was safer because his uncle Abu Talib protected him, but the leaders still tried to make Abu Talib stop supporting Muhammad. They even offered a young man in exchange for Muhammad, but Abu Talib refused and stood by his nephew.
Lesson 2: Being Brave in Hard Times
The early Muslims faced a lot of suffering but stayed strong in their faith. They showed the power of belief, kindness, and standing up for what is right.
Abu Bakr helping Bilal and Abu Talib protecting Muhammad are examples of support and bravery.
This story teaches us about the importance of being kind, strong, and fair to others, even when times are hard. It also shows the need for freedom to believe in TRUTH without fear.
Prophet Muhammad Stayed Strong
People like Abu Lahab and his wife Umm Jamil were very unkind to Prophet Muhammad. They did many bad things to him. Abu Lahab threw stones at the Prophet and made his sons divorce the Prophet’s daughters. Umm Jamil was also mean. She tried to hurt the Prophet by putting thorns on his path and threw stones at him. Even during the pilgrimage, they followed him and spread lies about him. They were so mean that Abu Lahab would even hurt the Prophet until his ankles bled.
Not just Abu Lahab, but others also treated the Prophet badly. They threw disgusting things at him while he prayed and ruined his food. Once, people even put camel guts on his back while he was praying near the Ka’bah. His daughter Fatimah had to remove it. The Prophet prayed to Allah, and those people faced consequences later.
Some people, like Umaiyah bin Khalaf and ‘Uqbah bin Abi Mu’ait, insulted the Prophet and did mean things. One even spat in the Prophet’s face because he was told to by another person. Al-Akhnas bin Shuraiq was also very rude to the Prophet. Abu Jahl tried to stop the Prophet from praying and even boasted about it. But Allah warned him, and he got scared when he saw a scary sight.
Despite the mean people trying to stop him, the Prophet stayed strong and continued his mission.
Lesson 3: Patience, Kindness, and Trust in God
Even when things were really hard, he trusted that Allah had a plan. This teaches us to be patient and kind, even when others are not nice to us. It also reminds us to trust in God, believing that things will get better.
Final Thoughts
Reflecting on the beginning of Islam and the challenges faced by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers, we learn three important lessons:
First, it’s crucial to stay strong in what we believe, even when others make fun of us or try to confuse us. Just like the Prophet, we should be clear about our beliefs and not let doubts or stories sway us.
Second, bravery is essential when times get tough. The early Muslims showed courage in the face of hardship, standing up for what’s right even when it was difficult.
Lastly, being patient, kind, and trusting in God can help us overcome tough times. Despite facing mean people, the Prophet remained patient and kind, showing us the importance of staying positive and trusting in God’s help. These lessons are still relevant today, teaching us how to face challenges with strength and kindness.
